MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – Sophomore Lizzy Kaye finished first on the 3-meter and senior Jenn Bell made it a one-two Virginia finish on the first day at the NCAA Zone A Championships.

Kaye scored a 683.90 to finish first on the 3-meter and secure a spot at the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships next week. Kaye posted a 347.75 to move into fourth all-time in UVA history in the event. She had the lead after the prelims and won by over 45 points.

Bell was fourth after the prelims with her score of 306.65 and jumped up to a second-place finish after scoring a 330.60 in finals. Her score in finals was just four points shy of her career-best (334.28). She also qualified for the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships with her finish.

Junior Oliver Mills finished 16th in the men’s 1-meter to qualify for finals with his score of 291.40. Mills scored a total of 569.55 to place 17th after finals.

Junior Maddy Grosz finished 22nd on the 3-meter with a 266.55, senior Charlotte Bowen was 25th with a 258.55 and Amanda Leizman was 58th (214.50). On the men’s 1-meter, senior Joseph Perreault was 32nd (256.00) and sophomore Nicholas Sanders was 41st (239.20).
