ATHENS, Ga. – Due to thunderstorms in the area, Sunday’s final round of the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic at the University of Georgia Golf Course in Athens, Ga. was canceled. No. 19 Virginia finished tied for sixth based on its standing after two rounds of competition with a score of 10-over 586. Auburn won the event at 13-under 563.

Amanda Sambach was UVA’s top finisher in fifth place at 2-under 142. It was the eighth top-10 finish of her career. Jennifer Cleary was 14th place at 1-over 145, Riley Smyth was 37th at 5-over 149, Celeste Valinho was 52nd at 152 and Megan Propeck was 66th at 154.

Rebecca Skoler, who competed as an individual, was 68th at 155.

Virginia will wrap up the regular season April 3-4 at the Wolfpack Match Play event in Raleigh, N.C.

Two Cavaliers, Sambach and Cleary, will compete at the Augusta National Women’s Amateur in Augusta, Ga., on March 29-April 1. This will be Sambach’s third appearance at the event. Cleary is playing there for the first time.
