Nine UVA Rowers to Compete at World Rowing U-23 and U-19 Championships
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Nine rowers will represent the University of Virginia at the 2023 World Rowing Under 23 and Under 19 World Championships this summer.
Kate Kelly (USA, women’s four), Elsa Hartman (USA, women’s four), Eva Frohnhofer (USA, women’s four with coxswain), Lauren Benedict (USA, women’s quad) and Leia Till (Canada, women’s four) will represent the Cavaliers at the World Rowing Under 23 Championships, held July 19-23 in Plovdiv, Bulgaria.
Lila Henn (USA, women’s quad), Ava Schetlick (USA, women’s eight), Kennedy Housley (USA, women’s eight) and Stella Bittman (Canada, women’s four) will represent UVA at the World Rowing Under 19 Championships, held Aug. 2-6 in Paris, France. Henn, Schetlick, Housley and Bittman are part of UVA’s promising recruiting class for the fall of 2023.
The World Rowing Under 23 Championships is the premier event for rowers under the age of 23 and offers a total of 22 events. The World Rowing Under 19 Championships is the premier event for rowers under the age of 19 and offers a total of 14 events.
“We are so very proud of what these women have accomplished so far this summer by being named to the U19 and U23 World Championship squads,” UVA head coach Kevin Sauer said. “We can’t wait to watch them race!”
As previously announced, UVA’s Sky Dahl is part of the PR3 mixed four with coxswain that will represent the U.S. at the 2023 World Rowing Championships Sept. 3-10 in Belgrade, Serbia. Dahl and her teammates won gold at the Para Rowing Regatta to Paris today on the Paralympic course in Vaires-sur-Marne, France.
