CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia’s Eva Frohnhofer claimed a bronze medal to highlight action for Cavalier rowers at the 2023 World Rowing Under-23 Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria.

Frohnhofer was part of the United States’ women’s four with coxswain that finished third behind Australia (6:49.56) and New Zealand (6:50.86) with a time of 6:51.59.

Leia Till and her Canadian teammates finished fifth in the women’s four behind Poland (6:33.99), China (6:34.39), Australia (6:35.80) and Great Britain (6:37.62) with a time of 6:39.90.

Lauren Benedict and the United States finished ninth in the women’s quad with a time of 6:36.50. Romania (6:23.29), Czech Republic (6:26.00) and Netherlands (6:26.56) finished first, second and third, respectively.

Kate Kelly and Elsa Hartman was part of the United States crew that finished 10th in the women’s four.

Rising first-years Lila Henn (USA, women’s quad), Ava Schetlick (USA, women’s eight), Kennedy Housley (USA, women’s eight) and Stella Bittman (Canada, women’s four) will represent UVA at the World Rowing Under 19 Championships, held Aug. 2-6 in Paris, France.
