CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia junior goalkeeper Tyler Kennedy (Houston, Texas) has been named the ACC Defensive Player of the Week in honors announced Tuesday (Sep. 12) by the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Kennedy logged four saves in Sunday’s 1-0 victory against No. 14 Harvard, her second shutout of the season and fifth of her career. She also had four saves in Friday’s victory at William & Mary.

This is the first career ACC Player of the Week honor for Kennedy.

Kennedy is the second Cavalier to earn a weekly accolade this season. Laura Janssen was named the ACC Offensive Player of the Week on Aug. 29.
