CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia men’s soccer team (11-3-4) is set to host Indiana (14-4-4) in a sweet sixteen matchup at Klöckner Stadium at 1 p.m. Virginia is the No. 7 seed in the NCAA Tournament and is ranked 11th nationally.

TICKET INFORMATION
Tickets are $15 for reserved seats and $10 for general admission tickets. Student tickets are available for $4 and can be purchased online at UVATix.com. The first 350 students will be admitted for free.

Parking is $10 for the JPJ West and South Lots. Spaces are first-come, first-serve. Parking can be purchased in advance or upon arrival.

NOTES ON THE MATCHUP

  • Indiana (8) and Virginia (7) rank second and third among NCAA Division I programs with the most NCAA titles—only Saint Louis (10) has won more.
  • Virginia and Indiana have split just two NCAA tournament matchups between them and will meet for the first time since the 2000 season.
  • The Cavaliers won their fifth NCAA title over Indiana by a score of 1-0 in 1994. Virginia fell to Indiana in the 1983 semifinal round.

  • UVA has won the NCAA Men’s Soccer Championship seven times, the third most of any NCAA Division I program
  • Virginia makes its 43rd appearance in the tournament this year, the fourth most among NCAA Division I programs
  • The Hoos have 13 appearances in the College Cup, the fifth most among NCAA Division I programs

NOTING THE HOOS

  • Leo Afonso is on a hot scoring streak for the Cavaliers. He has scored all three of Virginia’s postseason goals including a spectacular bicycle kick to seal a 2-1 win over FIU.
  • Virginia had three players earn All-ACC honors in Mouhameth Thiam, Stephen Annor and Brendan Lambe
  • Thiam was named Co-Midfielder of the Year and an All-ACC First Team selection, while Annor was Freshman of the Year and an All-ACC First Team selection. Annor and Lambe were also All-Freshmen selections.
  • Annor leads the Cavaliers with 10 goals this season. He is tied for 10th nationally in game-winning goals with five this season.
  • Paul Wiese is the top ball distributor for the Hoos with eight assists this season.
