CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Jade Hylton has been named the No. 13 middle infielder in the country by D1 Softball as the publication released its annual position rankings prior to the start of the 2024 season.

Hylton, a sophomore from Martinsville, Va., was one of the top performers for the Cavaliers as a freshman last year. She was named a TUCCI/NFCA Top 25 Freshman of the Year and earned All-Region honors from the NFCA a year ago. She was also named to the ACC All-Freshman team.

Last year, Hylton hit at a .314 clip on the year and tied for the team lead in home runs (10) and steals (22). Her 26 RBI led the team, while she was also tops in extra-base hits with eight doubles and four triples to go along with the 10 home runs. Her 33 runs scored also paced the squad.

Virginia opens the 2024 season on the road in a tournament hosted by South Carolina on February 9. The Cavaliers will face UNCG, Jacksonville State and South Carolina across the three-day tournament.
