CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – This week the No. 13 Virginia men’s golf team opens its spring schedule by playing in the 31st Annual Puerto Rico Classic on Feb. 11-13. The 54-hole event is hosted by Purdue, and takes place at the Grand Reserve Country Club, the site of the PGA Tour’s Puerto Rico Open.

The field includes (NCAA team ranking) Purdue (29), Georgia (43), Tennessee (6), Ole Miss (4), Oklahoma (15), ETSU (9), Iowa, College of Charleston, Ohio State (25), Wisconsin, Marquette, South Carolina, North Florida (30) and Minnesota.

UVA’s lineup features Ben James, Bryan Lee, Chris Fosdick, Josh Duangmanee and Paul Chang. Deven Patel will compete as an individual. In the latest NCAA rankings, Lee is ranked No. 52 while Ben James is No. 60. James topped UVA in stroke average last fall with an average of 70.44 per round. Lee was just behind him at 70.50. The Cavaliers finished in the top four at all four fall tournaments with James, Lee, Chang and Patel combining for eight top-10 finishes.
