CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – University of Virginia senior Lauren Benedict was named to the inaugural 2024 ACC Rowing Watch List, announced Thursday (Feb. 15).

The watch list consists of one student-athlete from each program, nominated by their respective schools. The ACC is the only conference with a preseason rowing watch list.

Benedict was a member of the UVA Varsity Eight that placed 11th at the 2023 NCAA Championship and second at the ACC Championships. She was named to the All-ACC Academic Team and ACC Honor Roll. Benedict helped the United States to a ninth-place finish in the women’s quad at the 2023 World Rowing Under-23 Championships.

Joining Benedict on the ACC Rowing Watch List were Lauren Meath (Boston College), Caroline Emerson (Clemson), Katie Nash (Duke), Claire Carver-Ritter (Louisville), Constance Stirling (Miami), Natalie Timinskas (North Carolina), Natalie Hoefer (Notre Dame) and Kamile Kralikaite (Syracuse).

Last season, Virginia claimed its 22nd overall title in the regatta’s 23-year history at Lake Wheeler in Raleigh, North Carolina. The Cavaliers, who captured four of the five Grand Finals, finished with 95 points, ahead of Syracuse (86) and Duke (83). The ACC Rowing Championship returns to Lake Wheeler in 2024, as the two-day event begins May 17.
