CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — Mackenzie Hoeg of the Virginia women’s lacrosse team has been named to the 2024 Tewaaraton Award Women’s Watch list, the Tewaaraton Foundation announced Friday (Feb. 16).

The Tewaaraton Award annually honors the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States. The selection committees are made up of premier collegiate coaches and are appointed annually by The Tewaaraton Foundation.

Hoeg earns her first career nomination from the Foundation following her best statistical season as a Cavalier posting single-season career highs with 40 goals, 54 draw controls and 27 ground balls. In 2023, Hoeg led the ACC and ranked third in the nation with a shot percentage of .635. She was named a third-team IWLCA All-American, and a first team IWLCA All-South Region selection.

No. 16 Virginia (2-0) is set to host Princeton on Saturday (Feb. 17) at Klöckner Stadium. Opening draw is set for 12 p.m.
