Harris Named ACC Pitcher Of The Week

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia softball team (20-10) kicks off a seven-game road swing on Tuesday (March 26) when the Cavaliers travel to play Liberty (17-13) in a 6 p.m. contest at Liberty Softball Stadium.

• The Hoos kick off a seven-game road swing at Liberty on Tuesday night and continues with three more games this week – one at JMU and two at Villanova.
• The Cavaliers are coming off a series win over No. 11 Clemson at home to mark both the program’s first ever win over Clemson (Friday) and first ever series win over the Tigers.

• Bigham leads the ACC in fewest hits allowed per 7.0 and ranks fifth nationally, while Madi Harris is fourth in the ACC and 24th nationally.
• Bigham is second in the ACC in strikeouts (107) and 14th nationally and ranks third in the ACC in strikeouts per 7.0 IP (10.1). Harris is fifth in the league in strikeouts per 7.0.
• Abby Weaver has been hot at the plate with a five-game hitting streak entering the week.
• Bella Cabral has also been heating up with seven multiple-hit games and five multiple RBI games, including a 3-for-4 night with three RBI in game one of the Clemson series.
• UVA vaulted up in RPI with an adjusted RPI of 35 and a strength of schedule rating of 22.

THE SERIES WITH LIBERTY

• Virginia leads the all-time series with Liberty 48-30, though Liberty leads in games in Lynchburg 16-15
• The teams split a home-and-home series last year with the home team winning each meeting
• The game at Liberty went to the Flames 6-2 with UVA’s Kailyn Jones hitting her first collegiate home run
• It is the first of two meetings between the teams as Liberty will play at Palmer Park on April 9
