Regional History
The regional berth marks the 27th time since 1990 the Cavaliers have competed in postseason play. Virginia is looking to advance to the NCAA Championships for the 19th time in its history. Last year the Cavaliers finished third at the Las Vegas Regional. It was the best-ever finish by a UVA team at a regional site. UVA shot 49-under, 815, the lowest ever by a UVA team at a regional site.

As a freshman, James shared medalist honors with San Francisco’s Matthew Anderson. That duo finished at 20-under 196. James shot 7-under 65 during the final round after posting scores of 65 and 66 on the event’s opening two days. James became the first Cavalier to win a NCAA Regional.

At University Club
Virginia played in the 2017 NCAA Regional held at LSU’s University Club. The Cavaliers placed fourth (+17, 881) to advance to the NCAA Championships. Senior Derek Bard led UVA with a 12th-place finish at 4-over 220. Current PGATour member Jimmy Stanger was tied for 17th (+6, 222) along with teammate Thomas Walsh.

James and Lee were named to the 2024 All-Atlantic Coast Conference team this season. It is the first time Lee has been honored while James was selected for the second consecutive year. He was the ACC Freshman of the Year in 2023.

Virginia is one of nine ACC schools participating in this year’s championship. Also making the tournament are: Clemson, Duke, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Louisville, North Carolina, Notre Dame and Wake Forest.
