CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – After making its venue debut last year, Virginia volleyball returns to John Paul Jones Arena on Sunday, Oct. 6 to host conference foe Miami. Opening serve is set for 1 p.m.

The contest between the Cavaliers and Hurricanes marks just the second-ever volleyball match to be held at JPJ since it opened in the fall of 2006.

“We have another amazing opportunity to once again compete in JPJ,” said head coach Shannon Wells. “It’s such a special experience for our student-athletes, coaching staff, alumni, donors and fans. It provides us the opportunity to show the volleyball community what we are building at UVA and the support our administration has for our program. We look forward to building upon the success of last year’s attendance record-setting match.”

Last year’s inaugural volleyball contest at JPJ, a Smithfield Commonwealth Clash between the Hoos and Virginia Tech, saw a dramatic finish in front of a program-record 3,162 spectators. After dropping the first two sets, the Cavaliers won the final three sets to successfully mount a five-set comeback victory.
