Virginia in Second After 36 Holes at Windy City Collegiate Classic
WILMETTE, Ill. — The Virginia women’s golf team wrapped up the opening day of the Windy City Collegiate Classic in second place on Monday (Sept. 30). Amanda Sambach leads the team in ninth place individually while Jaclyn LaHa sits in 11th after 36 holes.
Play was suspended due to darkness with three groups remaining on the course. Each of those groups will finish 1-2 holes prior to the start of the third round tomorrow (Oct. 1).
The Cavaliers combined to shoot 8-over 584 and trail the leaders, Arizona State, by just five strokes.
Sambach (72-73) finished 36 holes at 1-over 145 ending the first day in ninth place. She was followed by LaHa (73-73) who shot 2-over 146 through the first two rounds. Chloe Schiavone shot 3-under 69 on her second round, her lowest score against par this season.
Play will resume at 8:30 a.m. (ET) tomorrow morning (Oct. 1) when the teams play the final 18 holes of the competition.
