2024 – “Griffin is the anti-fireworks display teammate: the guy who studies his assignment, dives into the task-at-hand and finishes the job without looking for any recognition. Plug him into the defense and he will go almost unnoticed in a very good way. Griffin’s grasp of our defensive schemes allows him to constantly be in the right place, making him a very dependable teammate. Griffin is also a sticky on-ball defender due to his extensive studying of the position and with trial-and-error, He seeks out the toughest of matchups in practice.”  2023 – “Griffin’s arrival to Charlottesville has been one of great anticipation for our staff and team.  After being an integral part of the Richmond defense that stymied us in its victory over our team last season, we were eager to have him on our side moving forward.  Though there are certainly stylistic differences between Griffin and his older brother, many of us incorrectly call out “Kyle” during practice.  We are hopeful Griffin does not hold such against us as his impressive play this fall does emulate a guy who was an All-American defenseman here.”

• Recorded his Virginia career-high of four caused turnovers in UVA’s 14-4 win over Drexel (March 23)

2023

• Appeared in all 17 possible games, including three starts, at close defense
• Tallied 10 ground balls and three caused turnovers
• Dished out an assist, which tied the game 6-6, in UVA’s 12-8 win over No. 1 Notre Dame (April 30)
• Made his first start as a Cavaliers against No. 13 Syracuse (April 22)
• In his UVA debut, recorded one caused turnover against Michigan (Feb. 11)

• Sister, Regan, swam for Harvard (2014-18)
• Sister, Lara, plays lacrosse at University of Florida
• Cousin, John Crotty, played basketball at UVA from 1987-91, and played in the NBA from 1992-2003.
