CHARLOTTESVILLE – Virginia senior guard Ariana Moorer (Woodbridge, Va.) was named to the Virginia Sports Information Directors Association (VaSID) second team all-state women’s basketball team, the organization announced Wednesday (April 18).

Moorer was the Cavaliers’ leading scorer at 14.4 points per game, which was the seventh-highest average in the Atlantic Coast Conference. She also contributed 3.6 assists and 2.8 steals per game.

She was named to the All-ACC second team and was an all-tournament team selection and the most valuable player at the 2011 Marriott Cavalier Classic.

It marks Moorer’s second VaSID honor, as she was an honorable mention selection last season.

Courtney Hurt of VCU was named the Player of the Year, Reagan Miller of Liberty was the Rookie of the Year and Kenny Brooks of James Madison was the Coach of the Year.

Hurt was joined on the all-state first team by Liberty’s Devon Brown, George Mason’s Taleia Moton, Richmond’s Abby Oliver and Jericka Jenkins from Hampton.

The VaSID second team included Liberty’s Avery Warley, James Madison’s Tarik Hislop, Old Dominion’s Tia Lewis and Radford’s Da’Naria Erwin Spencer in addition to Moorer.
