Virginia's Varsity Eight Named ACC Crew of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C.–The Virginia rowing Varsity Eight has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Crew of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday (March 17).
The Cavalier crew, which consisted of coxswain Hayley LaFleche, Georgia Ratcliff, Hemingway Benton, Lizzy Youngling, Maddie Keating, Eliza Spilsbury, Sam Casto, Erin Briggs and Mackenzi Sherman, won three races at the Oak Ridge Cardinal Invitational last weekend (March 14-15) in Oak Ridge, Tenn.
Virginia first defeated No. 12 Notre Dame, Alabama and Kansas in 5:53.656 Saturday morning before finishing ahead of No. 9 Yale and Michigan State in 5:53.073 Saturday afternoon. On Sunday morning, the Cavaliers finished in 5:54.253, ahead of No. 18 Louisville and Oklahoma.
The Cavaliers return to action March 28-29 for the Pac-12 Challenge in Redwood Shores, Calif.
