GREENSBORO, N.C.–The Virginia rowing Second Varsity Eight has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Crew of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday (March 31).

The Cavalier crew, which consisted of coxswain Hayley LaFleche, Shawna Sims, Mackenzi Sherman, Anna Fairs, Lexie Katz, Chelsea Adams, Mackenzie Springer, Jo Gurman and Tessa Dikkers, won three races at the Pac-12 Challenge in Redwood Shores, Calif.

Virginia first defeated Oregon State in a time of 6:37.6 before being victorious over No. 5 Stanford in 6:32.5 on Saturday (March 28). On Sunday, the 2V8 defeated No. 4 California by four seconds, 6:26.2-6:30.2.

It is the second time UVa has been honored with the Crew of the Week accolade. The Cavalier Varsity Eight was recognized March 17.

Next up, the Cavaliers host their lone home regatta of the spring, the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, on Lake Monticello on April 4. The Cavaliers will face off against Big Ten schools Ohio State and Michigan as well as additionally racing against Navy. Clemson will also be representing the ACC at the regatta. The first race is set to start at 9 a.m.
