PRINCETON, N.J.–Four members of the No. 2 Virginia rowing program, senior Lizzy Youngling (Westport, Conn.), junior Sam Casto (Dallas, Pa.) and sophomores Erin Briggs (Orono, Minn.) and Georgia Ratcliff (Falls Church, Va.), have been accepted to the 2015 USRowing Under-23 National Team Selection Camp, USRowing announced Tuesday (May 12). Virginia was one of two schools to have four student-athletes selected to the camp.

The camp will select the women’s eight, four and quadruple sculls crews that will compete July 22-26 at the 2015 World Rowing Under 23 Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. The camp will also select a women’s pair to compete June 21-24 at the Under 23 World Championships Trials in West Windsor, N.J.

All four rowers have been part of the Virginia Varsity Eight this season that has been named ACC Crew of the Week twice.

Youngling was part of the U.S. women’s eight that earned gold at the 2014 World U23 regatta and the women’s double that finished seventh overall in 2013. She was a CRCA All-South Region First Team member in 2014.

Casto represented the U.S. in the women’s single at the 2014 World U23 regatta, placing 10th overall. She was part of the UVa Second Varsity Eight that placed third at the 2014 NCAA Championships.

Briggs was part of the Virginia 2V8 that finished third at the 2014 NCAA regatta and the Varsity Eight that finished as the top collegiate crew at the 2014 Head of the Charles.

Ratcliff was the 2014 ACC Freshman of the Year and twice represented the U.S. at the World Junior Championships, earning silver in the women’s four in 2012 and bronze in the women’s eight in 2011.

The Cavaliers travel to Clemson, S.C., for the ACC Championships on May 15-16. Virginia has captured five consecutive conference titles and has won 14 of the 15 ACC regattas.
