CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia wrestling team hits the mat on Sunday (Nov. 1) to open the 2015-16 season at the Clarion Open with 19 wrestlers hitting the mat for the Cavaliers and six freshman wrestling unattached in the meet hosted by Clarion University.

Fans can keep up with the action at the Clarion Open via a live stream and live stats provided by FloWrestling. The event begins at 9 a.m.

Chance McClure (Commerce, Ga.) will also hit the mat on Sunday, wrestling in the undercard at the NWCA All-Star Classic as an unattached competitor. The competition at the NWCA All-Star Classic begins at 3 p.m. ET.

Virginia, which claimed the 2015 ACC Championship, has 19 wrestlers returning from last season hitting the mat at the Clarion Open. Highlighting the competition for the Cavaliers are two-time NCAA qualifier Nick Herrmann (Amarillo, Texas) at 125 pounds, 2015 ACC runner-up and NCAA qualifier Andrew Atkinson (Lynchburg, Va.) at 157 pounds, two-time ACC Champion and NCAA qualifier George DiCamillo (Highland Heights, Ohio) at 133 pounds and two-time ACC runner-up and NCAA qualifier Zach Nye (Enola, Pa.) at 197 pounds.

Up Next For The Cavaliers
The Cavaliers will continue to wrestle on the road next weekend with a dual meet at North Dakota State on Friday, Nov. 6 before competing in a quad meet at No. 24 Minnesota on Saturday, Nov. 7. Competing in the quad meet with the Cavaliers and Golden Gophers will also be Grand Canyon and South Dakota State.
