CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia women’s lacrosse team (2-4) returns home to host Loyola Maryland (0-5) Wednesday (March 15) at 4 p.m. at Klöckner Stadium.

Virginia and Loyola were originally scheduled for a 7 p.m. start, but due to inclement weather the game was moved up to 4 p.m.

Wednesday’s game will be streamed live on the ACC Network Extra and can be viewed through ESPN3 or the WatchESPN app. Links for the stream, as well as live stats, are available on Virginiasports.com.

Virginia is coming off a three-game road trip over the last two weeks. The Cavaliers defeated William & Mary, 17-9, before falling at then-No. 5 Syracuse, 16-15, and then-No.2 North Carolina, 21-11. UVA is currently second in the conference and eighth in the nation with 15.33 draw controls per game.

Senior Kelly Reese (Severna Park, Md.) and sophomore Maggie Jackson (Alexandria, Va.) are leading the Cavaliers with 18 points this season. Freshman Sammy Mueller (Pelham, N.Y.) is the leading goal-scorer with 15. All three players have scored a goal in every game this season.

Jackson also leads the way in draw controls (27) and ground balls (15). Junior Kasey Behr (Northport, N.Y.) and sophomore Kaitlin Luzk (Alexandria, Va.) each have nine caused turnovers.

UVA holds a 23-11-1 advantage in the series with Loyola that dates back to 1981. The Greyhounds have won the last three meetings. Last season, Virginia trailed 7-3 with just under eight minutes before a 3-0 run put the Cavaliers within one, 7-6. UVA couldn’t overcome the deficit as Loyola held on for the win. UVA’s last win over Loyola in Charlottesville came on Feb. 18, 2012, when UVA won 14-9.

Loyola is looking for its first win of 2017, most recently falling to then-No. 3 Florida, 15-5. Cami Whiteford leads the Greyhounds with 11 goals and 13 points. Taylor VanThof has a team-high 26 draw controls and Kristen Yanchoris leads with nine ground balls. Goalkeeper Kady Glynn has 30 saves and is allowing 15.75 goals per game.

Virginia continues play at home with a conference matchup against No. 10 Notre Dame on Saturday, March 18, at noon at Klöckner Stadium.
