LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Louisville (28-17, 11-7 ACC) scored the game’s first seven runs and eventually final four runs in an 11-3, game-two victory over Virginia (21-31, 8-14 ACC). The Cardinals have now won eight-straight ACC games against the Cavaliers.

Louisville clinched its third ACC series of the season and its eighth run-rule win of the year. The Cardinals were initially powered by a five-run third inning and scored the first seven runs of the game. A two-run homer off the bat of Tiarra Sanabria capped the game-changing rally. The long ball was her second in as many days and third of the season.

The Virginia offense chipped away beginning in the top of the fourth when senior Iyana Hughes (Manteca, Calif.) drove in two runs on a double into the right centerfield gap, scoring McKall Miller (Ashburn, Va.) and Allison Davis (Oak Hill, Va.). The double was her eighth of the season and made the score 7-2.

In the top of the fifth, the Cavaliers moved within four on a Danni Ingraham (Laguna Niguel, Calif.) RBI double to left center, scoring Kaitlin Fitzgerald (Placentia, Calif.). Ingraham now has hit safely in eight-consecutive games.

The Cardinals responded with four runs in the bottom half of the frame to secure the run-rule victory. The game-winning hit, a bases loaded single to center field, was delivered by Maryssa Becker with two outs.

The series finale on Sunday (April 30) is scheduled for a noon start at Ulmer Stadium. The game will be streamed live on ACC Network Extra.
