CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Three University of Virginia rowers will compete at the 2017 World Rowing Under-23 Championships on July 19-23 at the Plovdiv Regatta Venue in Plovdiv, Bulgaria.

Current Cavalier rowers Heidi Long (Buckinghamshire, England), Ellie Stewart (London, England) and Morgan Rosts (Jordan, Ontario) will each compete in the women’s eight for their respective countries. Long and Stewart will compete for Great Britain, while Rosts will compete for Canada.

Long helped Great Britain to a silver medal in the women’s eight at last year’s event in Rotterdam, Netherlands. Former Cavaliers Erin Briggs, Colette Lucas-Conwell and Georgia Ratcliff earned gold medals in the women’s eight for the United States last season. Stewart and Rosts are making their debuts at the World Rowing Under-23 Championships this year.

Long was a member of UVA’s first-place varsity eight boat at this year’s ACC Championship. Rosts and Stewart rowed for the Cavaliers’ second varsity eight, which placed second at the ACC Championship.
