ACC Release
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. –
Junior Edward Opoku (Millbrook, N.Y.) was named the ACC Offensive Player of the Week after scoring both goals in a 2-1 victory over Virginia Tech on Friday night (Sept. 15). Opoku is tied for the ACC lead with five goals and leads the nation in points per game (2.4).

Opoku tallied his first career multi-goal game on Friday night, helping the Cavaliers remain unbeaten on the year (5-0-1, 1-0-1 ACC). He opened the scoring in the eighth minute and added the eventual game-winner in the 50th minute. In three seasons, Opoku now has 13 career goals, the most among active Cavaliers.

It marked the second time in his career he has garnered the weekly offensive honor and the first Cavalier to be recognized this season. Opoku was the ACC Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 18, 2016 after he scored the game-winner against then-No. 2 Notre Dame.

Notre Dame’s Felicia Dumas was named the ACC Defensive Player of the Week.

The Cavaliers are home on Friday (Sept. 22) to host No. 8 North Carolina at Klöckner Stadium.
