Charlottesville, Va. – Ohio State defensive lineman Dylan Thompson (Addison, Ill.) has announced he will transfer to Virginia for his final year of eligibility. Thompson will complete his undergraduate requirements at Ohio State this summer and earn a degree in sport industry. He plans on enrolling at Virginia this summer and will be able to play immediately for the Cavaliers.

Injuries limited Thompson’s playing time at Ohio State. He played in two career games for the Buckeyes. He picked up three tackles and 0.5 tackles for loss in 2017, the only season he saw action at Ohio State.

Thompson went to Ohio State after graduating from Chicago-area Montini Catholic. His team won three state championship his first three years of high school, followed by a state runner-up finish as a senior. Thompson tied his high school record with 17 quarterback sacks as a senior and also contributed 60 tackles and a total of 35 tackles-for-loss.

As a prep player, he earned Suburban Christian Conference lineman of the year honors and also earned Chicago Tribune and Champaign News-Gazette first team all-state accolades. He was a USA Today all-Illinois selection and selected to the U.S. Under-19 national team and played in the International Bowl (vs. Canada) in Arlington, Texas.
