2018 CBN All-America Team

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — Junior Andy Weber (Aurora, Ohio) was honored by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper as a Third Team All-American. He becomes the first Virginia second baseman to earn All-America honors.

He was one of five second baseman in the country listed on the All-America squad.

Weber had a breakout year for the Cavaliers leading the team in every major offensive category. He earned First Team All-Conference honors prior to last week’s ACC Championship in Durham. The third-year finished year with a .344 batting average, second-highest in the ACC. His 19 doubles were tied for the second most amongst ACC cohorts. In addition, Weber racked up 72 hits (T-7th most in ACC), drove in 50 runs (team-best) and hit five home runs (team-best).

He was the model of consistency, reaching base in all but four of his 54 games played. Earlier in the season, he reached base safely in 32-straight games and had two hit streaks of 10 or more games. He finished the season hitting safely in the last seven contests and concluded regular season play by homering in back-to-back games.
