CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia women’s basketball junior guard Jocelyn Willoughby (East Orange, N.J.) has been named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District III Women’s Basketball team, as announced today (Feb. 21) by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

The 2018-19 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Women’s Basketball Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team (if applicable) Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in mid-March.

Willoughby currently leads the Cavaliers in scoring and is ranked eighth in the ACC in rebounding. She will receive her bachelor’s degree in May in Global Development Studies, graduating in three years, and then will work on her masters at Virginia’s Batten School of Public Policy next year. During UVA’s Fall Convocation Ceremony on October 26, Willoughby received a certificate of Intermediate Honors, a distinction given to third-year students who are among the top 20 percent of their class in the College of Arts & Sciences. She is also a Meriwether Lewis Institute for Citizen Leadership Fellow. She is also an Office of African-American Affairs Peer Advisor.

Willoughby is the first UVA women’s basketball player to be named to the Academic All-District III team since Jenny Boucek in 1996. It is the seventh time overall that a Cavalier has earned the honor.
