Virginia and Wagner Square Off in Midweek Series

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia (5-5) will host Wagner (1-8) in a two-game midweek series at Disharoon Park. The opener is slated for Monday (March 4) at 2:30 while game two will have a first pitch of 3 p.m. on Wednesday (March 6). Both games are scheduled to air on ACC Network Extra.

TICKETS INFORMATION
With the original schedule of the series altered, tickets for the Wednesday game will now be accepted for Monday afternoon game. Fans with tickets for the Wednesday game that cannot attend this game may exchange their tickets in advance for a General Admission ticket to any other regular season game by calling the Virginia Athletics Ticket Office at (800) 542-8821 during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., or bring their ticket stubs to the gate for General Admission seating at any remaining regular season home game, subject to seat availability at the time of arrival.
Fans can purchase tickets at a discounted rate in advance by going online to VirginiaSports.com/Tickets. For all regular season home games, available reserved single-game tickets can be purchased in advance for $8 online or via mobile devices. Tickets are $10 at the sport-specific ticket office on game day. General admission single-game tickets are $5 in advance and $8 at the sport-specific ticket office locations on game day.
Clear Bag Policy

Leading Off
• Virginia has taken all three previous meetings against Wagner, including a pair of wins in a midweek series back in 2016.
• The last time Virginia put up 20 runs in a game was against the Seahawks in a 20-7 victory in the midweek finale.
• Virginia is 19-6 at home and 37-7 overall against non-conference opponents over the past two seasons.
• The Virginia pitching staff comes into the game without yielding a run in its last 14 innings pitched.
Splitting Shutouts
• Weather allowed for only a doubleheader against Seton Hall on Saturday (March 2). The two teams split the twinbill, each tossing shutouts.
• Seton Hall limited Virginia to three hits in the opening game and held Virginia scoreless for only the second time in the last 159 games.
• Griff McGarry, Paul Kosanovich and Andrew Abbott combined for a five-hit, 4-0 clean sheet in game two. McGarry turned in his second-straight quality start for his second win of the year.
Quality Bullpen Work
• The Virginia bullpen has allowed just one earned run in its last 10 innings pitched, a span of four games.
• Righthander Chesdin Harrington leads the team with five appearances and has not allowed a run in his last seven innings pitched. He has fanned 10 batters in that stretch including a career-high seven against William & Mary on Feb. 26.
• Paul Kosanovich has been nearly as effective, allowing just two hits and no runs over his last five innings. He earned his first collegiate victory in the series finale against Villanova on Feb. 24
• Andrew Abbott struck out three batters in the ninth inning of a non-save situation on Saturday vs. Seton Hall. He has nine strikeouts in 4.1 innings pitched this year.
Pushing the Right Buttons
• Making his first start of the season, sophomore Devin Ortiz (Irvington, N.J.) hit his first career homer in only his third at bat of the season on Saturday. Ortiz reached base in two of his three at bats and gave Virginia a 2-0 advantage in the second game against Seton Hall.
• Junior Cayman Richardson also saw his first action in three games in the nightcap against Seton Hall. Playing left field, he went 1-for-2 with an RBI to go along with two successful sacrifices in the contest.
At the Plate
• Both Tanner Morris and Zack Gelof have reached base safely in all 10 games this season. Gelof has a team-high five doubles and leads the team with 10 RBI on the season.
• Sophomore Brendan Rivoli leads the team with six multi-hit games, including two-hit performances in three of the last four contests. He is second on the team with a .359 batting average.
