Virginia Athletics Master Plan | AFCA’s 35 Under 35 List

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia’s defensive line coach Vic So’oto was announced today on the AFCA’s 2020 list of 35 under 35. He is the only coach from the ACC on the list.
 
So’oto is in charge of a defensive line that has helped the Cavaliers break the program’s single-season record for sacks with 45 in 2019.  Those 45 sacks place UVA No. 6 in the nation, while the Cavaliers rank No. 20 in the nation with 7.2 tackles for loss per game. 

 The AFCA 35 Under 35 Coaches Leadership Institute is a prestigious program aimed at identifying and developing premier, future leaders in the football coaching profession. Selected participants are invited to attend the one-day institute that features a curriculum of interactive lectures focused on topics specifically tailored to emphasize leadership in the coaching profession, ethics, influential responsibilities, career progression, and family balance.
 
Members of the AFCA 2020 35 Under 35 Coaches Leadership Institute receive a stipend to assist with expenses incurred while attending the AFCA Convention, provided by the NCAA Leadership Development and the American Football Coaches Foundation. They will be published in the bi-monthly AFCA MagazineAFCA Insider weekly email blast, and/or have their articles and videos added to the AFCA Educational Library. Additionally, participants will be placed on the AFCA Foundation Committee and become a part of a prestigious network of rising coaches in the profession along with many other great benefits.

The AFCA 2020 35 Under 35 Coaches Leadership Institute will take place on Sunday, Jan. 12, at the AFCA Convention in Nashville, Tenn.
