CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia women’s basketball team (0-4, 0-0 ACC) takes on Fullerton (2-2, 0-0 Big West) on Tuesday, Nov. 23 at 9 p.m. ET (6 p.m. local time).

NOTING THE CAVALIERS

  • Virginia heads to Fullerton looking for its first win of the season
  • The Cavaliers are coming off a 69-57 loss at UCLA on Sunday. UVA trailed by one point with just over two minutes left in the third quarter, but the Bruins offensive exploded to build a 19-point lead in the fourth quarter. Virginia got to within 10 with a minute left but could not erase any more of the deficit
  • UVA had four players score in doubles figures, led by a 14-point performance by junior guard Carole Miller. It was just the second time in her career she led the team in scoring. The first was her freshman season when she scored 18 points in a win against Notre Dame (1/26/20)
  • Junior forward Camryn Taylor continues to lead the team in scoring. Taylor scored 12 points against UCLA, her third double-digit scoring effort in four games this season. Taylor had 19 double-digit scoring performances at Marquette, including a string of eight to close out the season
  • Junior point guard Taylor Valladay had a career-high five steals against the Bruins. Her previous career best was three last season against Butler (2/10/21) while playing for Marquette. Valladay also had a caeer-best in assists this season with six in the season-opener at James Madison. She assisted on five baskets at UCLA
  • This will be the first ever meeting between the Cavaliers and the Titans
  • Fullerton is coming off a 67-59 loss at Air Force on Saturday. Una Jovanovic led the team with a career-high 14 points coming off the bench
  • Fullerton is picked to finish 10th out of 11 in the preseason Big West Coaches poll and 11th in the media poll. Fullerton went 4-18 last season

ON THE HORIZON

  • The Cavalier Classic tournament returns to John Paul Jones Arena with games on Friday, Nov. 26 and Sunday Nov. 28. UVA will face Rhode Island and Richmond with Long Beach State also taking on those same two opponents
  • A pair of Virginia alumna are on the Rhode Island coaching staff, head coach Tammi Reiss ’92 and assistant coach Sharnee Zoll-Norman ‘08
