CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia women’s basketball team (3-7, 0-0 ACC) plays its first Atlantic Coast Conference game of the season on Sunday, Dec. 19 when it plays at No. 2 NC State (10-2, 1-0 ACC). The game tips at 4 p.m.

NOTING THE CAVALIERS

  • The Cavaliers are coming off an 11-day break for finals
  • Sunday’s game is the ACC opener for the Cavaliers but not for NC State. The Wolfpack won 89-54 at Pitt on Dec. 10
  • Grad student guard Amandine Toi has led the team in scoring in six of the last seven games
  • Toi averaged 6.3 points per game through the first four games of the season. She has scored in double figures in each of the last seven games, averaging 15.8 points per game in those contests
  • Toi has led the team in scoring in five of the last six games
  • Toi scored 20 points against Richmond while going 0-of-5 from three-point range. In the next two games, she scored a combined 32 points while going 6-of-13 from three-point range
  • Toi continues to lead the ACC in minutes played per game at 35.8
  • Junior guard Taylor Valladay is averaging 4.0 assists per game, ranking sixth in the ACC. She dished out 10 assists with 4 turnovers in the last two games (2.5 assist-to-turnover ratio)
  • Valladay had a career-high eight rebounds against American. She has also posted career single-game highs in assists (6) and points (13) this season
  • Junior forward Camryn Taylor scored 11 points against American. It was her seventh double-digit scoring game in the last eight contests
  • Taylor leads the team in scoring (14.2 ppg) and in field goal shooting percentage (.444). She comes into the weekend ranked 11th in the ACC in points per game
  • Taylor and Valladay are both transfers from Marquette
  • Sophomore guard Kaydan Lawson has scored 10 points coming off the bench twice in the last four games. Lawson also led the team in rebounding at George Washington with eight

NOTING NC STATE

  • The Wolfpack are coming off an 82-80 overtime loss against No. 17 Georgia on Thursday night at Reynolds Coliseum
  • NC State leas the ACC and is ranked second in the nation in three-point shooting percentage (42.3 percent)
  • Diamond Johnson has made 22 three-pointers this season, averaging 1.83 per game
  • Elissa Cunane leads the team and is ranked seventh in the ACC in rebounding at 7.9 per game
  • Virginia leads the all-time series 40-38
  • The Wolfpack have won the last three meetings. UVA’s last win in the series was a 73-63 win in Raleigh on Jan. 4, 2018
