Virginia Plays Sunday at Florida State
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia women’s basketball team (3-14, 0-7 ACC) plays at Florida State (9-9, 3-5 ACC) on Sunday, Jan. 30 at 12 p.m. at the Tucker Center in Tallahassee, Fla.

NOTING THE CAVALIERS
- Sophomore guard Mir McLean made her Cavalier debut on Thursday night against the Hokies. McLean began the season at UConn, appearing in three games and playing a total of eight minutes before entering the transfer portal. She was issued a waiver by the NCAA to make her eligible to play midday on Thursday ahead of the game. She subbed in during the first quarter, going on to score 11 points and led the Cavaliers in rebounding with nine
- Taylor Valladay is averaging 11.5 points per game in conference contests. She averaged 6.7 points per game against non-conference opponents
- In Virginia’s three games last week, Valladay scored 43 points, a 14.3 per game average
- Valladay ranks eighth in the ACC in assists per game at 3.5
- In the last six games, four different Cavaliers have led the team in scoring. At Georgia Tech, Amandine Toi and Carole Miller split the team leads with eight points apiece. Toi scored 14 at NC State. Valladay led at Virginia Tech (16) and North Carolina (18) and Lawson at Duke (10). Toi returned to the team scoring lead against Virginia Tech with 13 points
- In the last four games, five different players have lead the team in rebounding. In the game at Virginia Tech, Parker, London Clarkson and Taylor Valladay all tied with six apiece. Sophomore guard Kaydan Lawson grabbed 14 at North Carolina, the highest single-game total by a Cavalier this season. Parker had 11 at Duke before McLean’s nine at home against the Hokies
- Parker is averaging a team-best 6.7 rebounds per game in conference contests
- Parker ranks seventh in the ACC in blocked shots per game at 1.4
- At UNC, the Cavaliers cut a 17-point deficit to six points in the final minute of the game. On Sunday at Duke, the Cavaliers cut an 18-point deficit down to five and trailed 50-45 in the final minute of the game, but could not complete either comeback
- Grad student guard Amandine Toi led the team in scoring against Virginia Tech with 13 points, her ninth time this year to lead the team in scoring. She was 3-of-5 from three-point range. The rest of the team went 1-of-4
NOTING FLORIDA STATE
- Florida State is coming off a 75-62 loss at No. 5 Louisville on Thursday
- Freshman point guard O’Mariah Gordon ranks fifth in ACC play with a 1.42 assist/turnover ratio
- Morgan Jones is averaging 15.4 points per game, ranking sixth in the conference
- Jones is ranked third in the ACC in field goal shooting percentage, making 51.1 percent of her attempts
- Makayla Timpson is ninth in blocked shots at 1.3 per game
- Virginia leads the all-time series 35-20, but Florida State has won the last four meetings and seven of the last eight
- Virginia’s last win against the Seminoles was a 60-51 victory in Charlottesville in 2017
- Virginia’s last win in Tallahassee was a 66-57 victory in 2012
