Virginia Opened Fall Play at its Home Tournament
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia women’s tennis team opened the fall portion of its schedule by hosting the Wahoowa Invitational tournament Friday through Sunday (Sept. 16-18) at the Virginia Tennis Facility at the Boar’s Head Resort.
Players from Virginia, Old Dominion, West Virginia, NC State, Illinois, Auburn, LSU and Princeton competed as individuals in singles and doubles matches.
Two Cavaliers made their collegiate debuts this weekend. Freshman Annabelle Xu went 2-0 in singles and freshman Meggie Navarro picked up her first collegiate win on Sunday. Grad student transfer Julia Adams began her UVA career with a win on Friday against West Virginia’s Kendall Kovick.
Senior Natasha Subhash went 3-0 in singles and 2-0 in doubles for an undefeated weekend.
The Cavaliers will head to Cary, N.C. next weekend to compete in the NC State Spotlight Tournament being held Sept. 22-25 at Cary Tennis Park.
