Virginia tailback Taquan Mizzell has been named to the preseason Biletnikoff Award Watch List, the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation announced Wednesday.

The Biletnikoff Award annually recognizes the outstanding receiver in college football. Any player, regardless of position who catches a pass is eligible for the award. As such, the Biletnikoff Award recognizes the outstanding receiver. The highly distinguished Biletnikoff Award National Selection Committee, a group of prominent college football journalists, commentators and former receivers, selects the award recipient.

Mizzell (Sr., Virginia Beach, Va.), a third-team All-ACC honoree in 2015, broke the ACC record for receiving yards by a running back with 721 in 2015. Mizzell finished 29 yards short of becoming the first FBS player since 2006 to record 700 receiving and 700 rushing yards in the same season. Mizzell is one of only five Cavaliers to ever record at least 1,000 career rushing and 1,000 career receiving yards. His 75 receptions in 2015 rank No. 2 all-time at UVA for catches in a season and No. 2 all-time for receptions in the ACC by a running back.

Mizzell previously had been named to the Maxwell Award preseason watch list.

The Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation, will announce the ten Biletnikoff Award semifinalists on Nov. 14, 2016, following the vote by the members of the Biletnikoff Award National Selection Committee. Likewise, the three finalists will be declared, following another vote, on Nov. 22, 2016. The 2016 Biletnikoff Award winner will be presented live on December 8, 2016, on The Home Depot College Football Awards Show.
