WEST WINDSOR TOWNSHIP, N.J. – Three Virginia boats will race in the petite finals as second-day action concluded Saturday (May 27) at the NCAA Rowing Championships on Mercer Lake in West Windsor Township, N.J.

UVA’s Varsity Eight finished fifth in its A/B semifinal heat, while the Second Varsity Eight and Varsity Four each placed sixth. All three Cavaliers boats will race for places 7-12 on Sunday (May 28).

The UVA Varsity Eight finished fifth in its A/B semifinal heat. Stanford won the race at 6:15.430 and was joined in the grand final by Michigan (6:18.150) and Yale (6:18.366). Princeton (6:19.653), UVA (6:25.403) and Indiana (6:32.410) finished fourth, fifth and sixth, respectively.

The Cavaliers’ Second Varsity Eight placed sixth in its A/B semifinal heat with a time of 6:36.819. Cal won the race at 6:26.279. Michigan (6:28.915) and Wisconsin (6:30.192) joined the Bears in tomorrow’s grand final. Princeton (6:31.972) and Stanford (6:33.929) placed fourth and fifth, respectively.

Virginia’s Varsity Four placed sixth in its heat at 7:21.699. Cal won the race with a time of 6:58.482 followed by Ohio State (7:03.802) and Texas (7:04.396). Stanford (7:09.036) and Wisconsin (7:09.932) joined the Cavaliers in tomorrow’s petite final.

NCAA championship action concludes Sunday (May 28) with the finals beginning at 8:12 a.m. ET. Virginia’s first race will be the Varsity Four’s petite final at 10 a.m., followed by the Second Varsity Eight (10:24 a.m.) and Varsity Eight (10:48 a.m.).
