ACC Release | College Soccer News Release
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Junior Sergi Nus (Barcelona, Spain) was named the Atlantic Coast Conference men’s soccer Defensive Player of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday (Oct. 9). In addition, the defender was listed on the College Soccer News National Team of the Week.

Nus played every minute of a pair of wins for No. 11 Virginia (8-1-2, 2-1-2 ACC) last week. In Friday (Oct. 6) night’s 1-0 win over Boston College, Nus was credited with the game-winner after scoring off a set piece in the 15th minute. The goal was his career-best, fifth of the season and he now has three game-winners on the year, tied for the second most in the ACC. On defense, he anchored a Virginia back line that produced its third shutout of the season.

The weekly honors are the first of Nus’ career. He is the second Virginia player this year to be named ACC Player of the Week. Edward Opoku took home offensive accolades back on Sept. 18.

The Cavaliers will wrap up a three-game home stand on Tuesday (Oct. 10) when they host Lehigh at 7 p.m.
