ESPY AWARDS- Best College Athlete

The ESPYS, short for Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly Awards, is an annual event created by ESPN in 1993 to recognize athletic achievements. Since 1993, the show has honored one male individual from the world of college sports. From 1993 to 2001, the program honored the top female college basketball player before switching to the more inclusive Best College Athlete for Women’s Sports from 2002 to the present. Virginia has had two female athletes nominated for the top honor.
