LAKE MONTICELLO, Va.–The University of Virginia women’s rowing team won six of seven races Saturday (April 4) against the University of Massachusetts on Lake Monticello.
Virginia’s varsity eight defeated Massachusetts by four tenths of a second in the closest race of the day. UVa finished in a time of 6:37.3 with Massachusetts finishing in 6:37.7.
The Cavaliers’ second varsity eight won its competition against Massachusetts with a time of 6:44.1.
UVa’s first novice eight defeated Massachusetts by 4.3 seconds and Virginia’s second novice eight defeated Massachusetts by 17.6 seconds.
Virginia’s first varsity four won its competition with a time of 7:39.5, while the Cavaliers’ second varsity four defeated Massachusetts by 5.5 seconds. UVa’s lightweight eight lost to Massachusetts by two seconds.
Virginia returns to action on Saturday, April 11, when the Cavaliers compete at the George Washington Invitational in Washington, D.C.
