Women’s Crew Headed to George Washington Invitational

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.-The University of Virginia women’s rowing team competes Saturday (April 11) at the George Washington Invitational Crew Classic in Washington, D.C. The event is the official regatta of the national Cherry Blossom Festival.

Teams from 12 universities are expected to take part in the event, which is the largest collegiate rowing competition in the Washington metropolitan area. Preliminary heats begin at 8:30 a.m. and the finals are scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. The 2,000-meter, four-lane buoyed course begins near the Spout Run area of the Potomac River with the finish line at Washington Harbour in Georgetown.

Virginia’s women’s varsity eight has finished first in that competition at the George Washington Invitational Crew Classic each of the last three years.
