Virginia Crew Finishes Third at Eastern Sprints

NEW PRESTON, Conn.

The University of Virginia women’s rowing team finished third on Sunday (May 10) in the 17-team Eastern Sprints. Princeton won the team competition followed by Brown and Virginia.

Virginia finished second behind Brown in the varsity eight race. Brown won with a time of 6:35 followed by Virginia at 6:38. Northeastern finished third.

UVa was third in the varsity four race and the Cavaliers finished fourth in the second varsity eight race. Rutgers won the varsity four (8:02.3) with Princeton finishing second (8:02.6) and Virginia third (8:03). Princeton won the second varsity eight race followed by Boston University, Brown and Virginia.

The Cavaliers won both the second varsity four and novice four races. Virginia finished fourth in both the second novice eight and lightweight eight races.

UVa competes at the Central Region Championships on Saturday (May 16) in Oak Ridge, Tenn.
