GAINESVILLE, Ga. — All three University of Virginia boats advanced to semifinal competition during the first day of the NCAA Women’s Rowing Championships on Friday (May 29) at Lake Lanier.

Virginia’s first varsity eight advanced to Saturday’s (May 30) semifinals after finishing third in its heat. UVa finished with a time of 6:21.50. Brown won the heat with a time of 6:14.80 and Northeastern was second at 6:18.90. California finished fourth (6:29.80) followed by Harvard (6:32.90) and Ithaca (6:48.80).

The Cavaliers’ second varsity eight advanced to the semifinals by winning its heat. Virginia finished with a time of 6:27.90 followed by Princeton (6:33.20), Michigan (6:35.70) and Harvard (6:38.50).

UVa’s varsity four advanced to Saturday’s semifinals with a second place finish in its heat. North Carolina won the heat with a time of 7:09 and Virginia was second at 7:13.80. Williams finished third (7:18.30) with Smith fourth (7:22.70) and Dartmouth fifth (7:30.30).

The competition continues through Sunday (May 31).
