Women’s Crew Performs Well at Rowing Championships

GAINESVILLE, Ga.–All three University of Virginia boats have advanced to Sunday’s (May 31) finals in the NCAA Rowing Championships at Lake Lanier.

Virginia’s first varsity eight and varsity four advanced to the finals during the second day of competition on Saturday (May 30). UVa’s second varsity eight advanced to the finals by winning its heat with a time of 6:27.90 during the first day of competition on Friday (May 29).

The Cavaliers’ first varsity eight finished third in its semifinal heat on Saturday to earn a spot in the final. Brown won the heat with a time of 6:22.40 followed by Massachusetts (6:25.60) and Virginia (6:27.80). Dartmouth finished fourth in the heat with a time of (6:32.70) followed by California (6:34.70) and Michigan State (6:37.10).

UVa’s varsity four advanced to Sunday’s final with a third place finish in its heat. Washington won the heat with a time of 7:08.40 followed by Southern California (7:09.90) and Virginia (7:13.0). Pennsylvania finished fourth (7:15.20) followed by Harvard (7:20.20) and Princeton (7:22.30).

Virginia is one of eight schools competing for the team title. The competition concludes on Sunday.
