Rowing Places Four in Finals at San Diego Crew Classic

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The Virginia women’s rowing team placed four boats in Sunday’s finals at the San Diego Crew Classic in San Diego, Calif.

The Virginia varsity eight posted the fastest time in winning its heat in a time of 6:38. In the Cavaliers’ heat, California finished second and Michigan third.

Washington won the first heat in 6:39, while Southern California was second and Wisconsin was third.

Virginia’s second varsity eight also won its heat in a time of 6:51, while Washington won its heat in a time of 6:52, while Southern California and Wisconsin tied in the third heat with a time of 7:00.

The Virginia women’s novice eight won its heat. Joining the Cavaliers in winning heats in the novice eight was Washington and California.

Princeton won the lightweight race, while Virginia finished second.

The finals begin tomorrow at 1 p.m.
