CAMDEN, N.J.–The University of Virginia women’s rowing team won all but one race on Sunday (April 11) in competition against the University of Massachusetts and Villanova University at Cooper River Park.
The Cavaliers won the varsity eight, the second varsity eight, the varsity four, the second varsity four, the first novice eight and the second novice eight.
UVa, currently ranked second in the nation in the varsity eight, won that competition with a time of 7:20. Massachusetts finished second with a time of 7:38 followed by Villanova at 8:02. Massachusetts finished second in the varsity eight and fourth in the team competition at last year’s NCAA Rowing Championships.
Virginia’s next competition is on Saturday (April 17) when the Cavaliers have a home competition against California-Berkeley and Michigan State at Lake Monticello. The Harvard lightweights are also scheduled to take part in the competition.
