Virginia’s Varsity Eight Ranked Second in Nation

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — The University of Virginia women’s varsity eight and lightweight eight maintained their ranking in the third 1999 regular-season national collegiate coaches Top 20 polls conducted by USRowing. The varsity eight is ranked second in the nation and the lightweight eight is ranked third.

In the varsity eight rankings, Washington is ranked first followed by Virginia, California-Berkeley, Brown and Michigan. In the lightweight eight rankings, Princeton is ranked first followed by Villanova, Virginia, Wisconsin and Radcliffe.

The Virginia women’s rowing team competes against Georgetown, George Washington and Princeton in Princeton, N.J., on Saturday (May 1).
