Princeton Upsets UVa in Varsity Eight Competition

PRINCETON, N.J. – The fifth-ranked Princeton varsity eight defeated second-ranked Virginia during a quad race on Lake Carnegie on Saturday (May 1). Virginia won the second varsity eight and varsity four races during the competition.

In the varsity eight, Princeton finished with a time of 6:51.5 follwed by Virginia (6:54.5), Georgetown (7:11.4) and George Washington (7:23.1).

Virginia won the second varsity-eight in a time of 6:56.8 followed by Princeton (7:01.2), George Washington (7:34) and Georgetown (7:40).

In the varsity four, Virginia finished with a time of 7:58.0 followed by Princeton (7:59.6) and Virginia “B” (8:14.5).

The top-ranked Princeton lightweight eight finished with a time of (7:13.3) to defeat second-ranked Virginia (7:28.1) and 10th-ranked Georgetown (8:06.8).

In the first novice eight competition, Princeton won with a time of 7:07.9 followed by Virginia (7:15.6), Georgetown (7:19.1) and George Washington (8:15.0).

Princeton won the second novice eight race with a time of 7:21.0 followed by Virginia (7:27.9) and Virginia “B” (7:42.7).

Virginia doesn’t compete again unil May 16 when the Cavaliers participate in the Eastern Sprints in New Preston, Conn.
