Sporting News Ranks UVA Athletic Program Eighth

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The University of Virginia athletic program isranked eighth in a major survey by The Sporting News, in which the 112 U.S.colleges that participate in NCAA Division I in both football and men’sbasketball are graded according to various standards ranging from on-fieldto academic performance.

The rankings are a cover story in the September 13 issue of TheSporting News which is scheduled to reach newsstands on September 8.

The Top 10 schools in the ranking are Penn State, North Carolina,Notre Dame, Stanford, Florida, Duke, Purdue, Virginia, Nebraska andMichigan State. The schools ranked 11-20 are Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan,Kentucky, Syracuse, UCLA, Northwestern, Illinois, Ohio State andWashington.
