CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.–Cavalier captain Carryn Weigand (Burke,Va./Paul VI) headed in a Katie Tracy (Richmond, Va./James River) flick inthe 82nd minute to push the Cavaliers (10-4, 4-1 ACC) past the Seminoles(8-6, 0-4 ACC) tonight. Weigand patrolled a backfield that allowed FloridaState one shot on goal and was in the penalty box in the 82nd minute toknock home her third-game winner of the season.

The Cavalier defense held the Seminoles without a shot in the firsthalf of play and allowed only one in the second half, which was saved byMegan Boehm (Columbia, Md./Howard), who started in the second half inreplacement of Julie Harris (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield), who started thegame.

After an offensive flurry by the Cavaliers, Tracy picked up a looseball in the transition and alertly flicked it into the air where Weigandgot a head on it and put it past the outstretched hands of the FloridaState keeper.

The Cavaliers return to action on Sunday, October 17 as they takeon the Oakland Grizzlies at 1:00 pm. This is the first meeting between thetwo schools.
