Three Women’s Tennis Players Advance in ITA East Regionals

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Three University of Virginia women’s tennis players, second-year Jennifer Tuchband (Millburn, N.J. / Millburn), second-year Henriette Williams (Raleigh, N.C. / Broughton), and fourth-year Christie Schweer (Houston, Texas / Memorial), won their second round matches at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association East Regional Championships Sunday (Nov. 5).

Tuchband defeated William & Mary’s Jessica Arthur, 7-5, 6-4, while Williams handled Richmond’s Jodi Kenoyer, 6-4, 6-2. Shweer beat Syracuse’s Michelle Nevekovska, 7-5, 3-6, 6-4. All three players had third round matches Sunday night, but results were not available at press time.

First-year Laura James (Fairfax, Va. / Centerville) was the only Cavalier to loase Sunday, dropping a second round match to Old Dominion’s Nataly Cahana, 6-0, 6-0.
