UVa Women’s Tennis Loses 5-2 to Miami

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The No. 55 University of Virginia women’s tennis team lost to No. 35 Miami 5-2 in Coral Gables, Fla. on Friday (March 16).

Virginia’s lost all three doubles matches to fall into a 1-0 hole heading in to the singles portion of the match. No. 1 singles player Amy O’Donnell (Mahwah, N.J./Mahwah) and No. 2 dingles player Henriette Williams (Raleigh, N.C./Broughton) both won their singles matches. However, the Cavaliers lost at No. 3, 4, 5 and 6, to lose the match, 5-2.

UVa did have a chance to upset Miami, but the Cavaliers came out on the short end of three three-set matches. Virginia will play Florida State on Sunday (March 18) in its Atlantic Coast Conference opener.

3 Bennacer/Hafner (UM) def. Tuchband/Weaver (UVa), 8-5.
